food . drink . music.

Welcome to MacGregor’s at The Whisky Vaults, Oban
Home to over 350 whiskies, live music throughout the week, and a traditional session every Sunday, MacGregor’s is a place for locals and visitors to come together — drawn by great music, good company and a genuine West Coast atmosphere.
We are also home to the West Coast Whisky Experience — an immersive journey through whisky, music and history, bringing the spirit of Scotland’s west coast to life through storytelling, tasting and live performance.
As a proud Kilchoman Comraich bar, we celebrate exceptional whisky alongside the people and traditions that make it special.
MacGregor’s at The Whisky Vaults is more than a bar. It’s a gathering place — where stories are shared, music is played, and every visit feels part of something real.
FOOD
Our kitchen in Oban will open at the beginning of April offering the best in local, well made food with the emphasis on local producers, so your fish freshly caught, your mussels and langoustines fresh off the boat, and your steak pie and burgers with excellent provenance.
MORE THAN A BAR
When you walk into MacGregors you walk into modern day Scotland.
It's an adventure in taste, music and culture, highlighting the best that Scotland has.
Don't just take our word for it. Our awards at our sister venues speak for themselves (but we will be hot on their heels very soon):

-
Best Music Bar Scotland 20/21- SLTN
-
Best Bar In Scotland 19/20- Visit Scotland Thistle awards
-
Best Concept Bar - 18/19 SLTN
And that's not all of them (we didn't want to bore you).
Who you'll see at the sessions
Among the familiar faces, you’ll often find Bruce MacGregor — renowned fiddle player, co-founder of Blazin’ Fiddles, and former presenter of BBC Radio Scotland’s folk show — a true pillar of Scotland’s music scene.
Bruce is a regular presence at MacGregor’s and can often be found joining the Sunday sessions, where the music is as much about community as it is performance.
The West Coast Whisky Experience is led by Jen MacNeill of Colonsay, who brings together whisky, music and storytelling in a way that captures the spirit of Scotland’s west coast.
Together, they reflect what MacGregor’s is all about — sharing Scotland’s traditions not as something staged, but as something lived, welcoming and real.
